We’ve created a full schedule of educational programs for the duration of JBF LTD (April 12–May 14). This is an ever-growing, ever-changing schedule, so be sure to check back often to see what’s happening each day. The events listed below are in addition to the activities that will happen all day long at our premium partners’ kisoks.

April 12 (2:30 pm): Experts of the Food Network KitchensKatherine Alford, vice president of the test kitchens at Food Network and Cooking Channel, will kick off our monthly events when she’s on hand to talk about the Food Network Magazine Cookbook, answer any culinary questions, and serve up a few tasty morsels.

April 13 (2:30 pm): Beard on Books—Multiple JBF Award–winning author Patricia Wells is in town from France to discuss her new book Salad as a Meal: Healthy Main Dish Salads for Every Season, which is the subject of this cool blogger challenge.

April 14 (2:30 pm): From the pages of the May issue, Food Network Magazine presents Sunny Anderson, who will serve up her cookies at the Food Network booth and give out a trip to the upcoming Food Network Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival to one lucky winner.

April 15 & 16 (2:30 pm): Certified Angus Beef® brand presents Cowboys and Cleavers—Texas ranchers Steve and Ginger Olson tell how the quest for great taste is won. Then it’s tips from the butcher block with Marc Sarrazin of DeBragga & Spitler and Certified Angus Beef® brand chef Scott Popovic. They’ll talk meat, muscle, and the best cuts for your bite.

April 17 (2:30 pm): The Taste of SaltEric Lundy, general manager of The Meadow in NYC will discuss, explain, serve, and even cook on salt, the world’s most essential mineral.

April 19 (2:30 pm): Cooking Chinese at Home—2011 JBF Award–nominated Red Cook blogger Kian Lam Kho will remove the intimidation factor from cooking Chinese food in your own kitchen while he demonstrates how to make delicious dumplings.

April 20 (2:30 pm): Food Network presents Anne Thornton, host of Dessert First, will be on hand at the Food Network booth, to discuss everyone’s favorite part of the meal.

April 22 (2:30 pm): Earth to Table / Table to Earth—Join sustainability expert Karen Karp of Karp Resources, multiple JBF Award–winning author Marion Nestle (whose books include Food Politics, Safe Food, and others), and JBF Award–winning chef/CEO of Wholesome Wave Michel Nischan for this Earth Day discussion about current trends in food, sustainability, and public health. JBF vice president Mitchell Davis will moderate.

April 23 (2:00 pm): Melissa d’Arabian, host of Ten Dollar Dinners, will be at the Food Network’s kiosk on Easter Saturday.

April 23 (2:30 pm): The State of Food in NYC–Join Time Out New York food & drink editor Jordana Rothman and Eatocracy editor Kat Kinsman for a fun conversation about eating in the Big Apple.

April 26 (2:30 pm): Join us for a wine pairing chat with JBF Award winner and Delta Air Lines consulting chef Michelle Bernstein of Michy’s and Sra. Martinez in Miami and JBF Award winner and Delta’s in flight sommelier Andrea Robinson.

April 27 (2:30 pm): RESCHEDULED! Beard on Books: Chef Gabrielle Hamilton of Prune joins JBF vice president Mitchell Davis for a discussion about her acclaimed new memoir Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef.

April 28 (2:30 pm): Cheese 101—Join the passionate cheesemongers of Lucy’s Whey for a sampling of their favorite cheeses and a lesson on how to assemble the perfect cheese plate.

April 29 (2:30 pm): Demystifying Kimchi—Spicy, fermented cabbage and other Korean pickles have broken out into the main stream. Join Lauryn Chun, founder of Mother-in-Law’s Kimchi, who’ll talk about the wonders of kimchi and how to cook with it.

April 30 (2:30 pm): Kids in the Kitchen—Getting children interested in cooking is important for them to develop a healthy relationship with food. Children’s cooking expert and cookbook author Cricket Azima discusses and demonstrates how to keep your kids enthusiastic for and interested in cooking.

May 1 (11:00 am): D’Artagnan‘s annual Duckathlon kicks off in the JBF LTD pop-up space. Come cheer on your favorite chef teams for this zany Meatpacking District gourmet (and gourmand) scavenger hunt.

May 3 (2:30 pm): Reality BitesTop Chef judge and Top Chef Just Desserts host Gail Simmons of Food & Wine magazine gives us the inside scoop on Bravo’s hit competitive reality show and discusses the larger impact of television on the world of food and chefs. Gail is co-hosting the JBF 2011 Book, Broadcast, and Journalism Awards Dinner on May 6.

May 4 (11:30 am):  NEW TIME! Claiming Your Steak—Journalist Mark Schatzker, author of Steak: One Man’s Search for the World’s Tastiest Piece of Beef, joins 2011 JBF Award–nominated chef Craig Deihl of Cypress in Charleston, SC, for an educational, informative, and palate-opening presentation and tasting of everyone’s favorite cut of beef.

May 4 (2:30 pm): Fearless Baking—JBF Award–winning pastry chef (and trustee) Emily Luchetti of Waterbar and Farallon in San Francisco, and author most recently of The Fearless Baker, discusses the most common mistakes home bakers make and how to avoid them.

May 5 (2:30 pm): Happy Birthday, Jim!—On what would have been James Beard’s 108th birthday we will celebrate with a panel discussion of his life and his impact on America’s food world. Birthday cake included. Join JBF Award winning author and NY Times columnist Melissa Clark, artisanal butcher Jake Dickson of Dickson’s Farmstand Meats, JBF Vice President Mitchell Davis. Moderated by James Beard Award winner and bona fide “Friend of Jim” Clark Wolf. Beard’s favorite birthday cake, prepared by JBF Award winning pastry chef Jacques Torres, will be served!

May 6 (2:30 pm): Food Network’s Marcela Valladolid, host of Mexican Made Easy, stops by to meet viewers, answer questions, and sign copies of her book.

May 7 (2:30 pm): Gilt City hosts: Open for Business: An Honest Conversation About How To (and how not to) Open A Restaurant, featuring panelists Restaurateur Donatella Arpaia, Executive Chef Jared Appell of Donatella, Restaurateur Sean Largotta, and Chef John DeLucie of The Lion. This panel will be moderated by Danyelle Freeman, founder and editor of Restaurant Girl and author of Try This: Traveling The Globe Without Leaving The Table.

May 10 (2:30 pm): Grooming the JBF Award Winners of the Future: A discussion with Professor Philson Warner from the High School of Food & Finance.

May 11 (2:30 pm): Beard on Books: The Jewish Culinary Diaspora—JBF Award–winning author Joan Nathan discusses her most recent book Quiches, Kugels and Couscous: My Search for Jewish Cooking in France and the regional variation in Jewish cooking with Israeli food editor Janna Gur, author of The Book of New Israeli Food, and JBF vice president Mitchell Davis, author of The Mensch Chef.

May 12 (2:30 pm): Experts of the Food Network KitchensKatherine Alford, vice president of the test kitchens at Food Network and Cooking Channel, and Food Network executive chef Rob Bleifer will be on hand to talk about and sample their favorite Food Network dishes for everyone to see, smell, and taste.

May 13 (2:30 pm): Ever wondered how to turn your foodie obsession into a successful business? Gilt City and The Door Marketing Group tells us how. Panelists: Luke Holden, Founder of Luke’s Lobster; Daniel Mancini, Founder of MamaMancini’s Meatballs; Amy Scherber, Founder of Amy’s Breads; Daniel Sklaar, Creator and Founder of Fine & Raw Chocolate; Jon Snyder, Creator of il Laboratorio del Gelato; and Kelly Taylor, Founder of Kelso Brewery. Moderator: Liz Vaccariello, Editor-in-Chief of Every Day with Rachael Ray.
